How to Install Windows Hyper-V in Windows Server 2008
I've been dying to check out Hyper-V, now that I finally have a server to run it on. I figured I would post this quick screen shot tour of how to install Hyper-V in Windows Server 2008.
Note: Clicking on an image below will open the full sized image in a new window.
Open up Server Manager, which can be found in Start > All Programs > Server Manager

In the left side of the management console, click on "Roles"

On the left side of the screen, click on "Add Roles"
This will launch the "Add Roles Wizard". Click on "Next".
Place a checkmark in "Hyper-V", then click on Next.
The Next dialog gives you the options to review some Hyper-V documentation. Click on "next".
The Next step is to select what network adapter(s) is going to be used for Virtual Networks. In this example, I am only going to select one of my network adapters.
One note here, from the "Managing Virtual Networks" section of help:
If you connect a virtual network to a physical network adapter that uses static settings, such as a static IP address, and IPv6 is not disabled, the new connection will overwrite the static settings. Network connectivity will be lost until you reapply the static settings to the physical network adapter.
In my case, I'm not using IPV6, and I've disabled it. I also have a static address assigned. So I'm good to go.
After making your selections, click next.
Setup now confirms your selections, if everything is good to go, click Install.
When everything is finished, you may have to restart your server.
After the system comes back up, and you log on, Hyper-V is going to do some configuring. Just be patient.
When it's all finished, you'll be able to see if installation was successful. Click on close.
You'll find the Hyper-V manager under "Administrative Tools"
