How to Share a Folder with Live Mesh
I posted recently that the Live Mesh team announced that Microsoft Live Mesh is now open to the Public, so I figured I might as well post some how to’s about it.
One of the most useful aspects of live mesh is the ability to share a folder across all of the computers and devices that are on your live mesh network. It’s not too complicated to do, and I’ve outlined the steps, with screen shots, below.
Note: Clicking on any of the pictures below will open the full sized version in a new window. Also, the steps below were performed on Vista, but they are identical in Windows XP.
Assuming you already have Live mesh installed, use Windows Explorer to navigate to the folder, then right click on it.
On the menu that appears, you will see “Add Folder to your Live Mesh”
After clicking “Add Folder to your Live Mesh, you’ll be presented with the following dialog
Clicking on “Show Synchronization Options” will let you choose which computers and devices that you want to share this folder with.
Clicking on the drop down arrow allows you to change the synchronization settings, pictured below.
After you make all of your changes, clicking OK will synchronize the folder, and the icon will change to the live mesh icon, pictured below:
The folder will quickly be available on your Live Desktop, and available for other devices to synchronize.
