Listen to New Music for Free

The one thing that I've always liked about talking to people who share the same taste in music is the fact that I usually end up discovering a band that I haven't heard of. In my area, the radio stations have playlists as long as the line outside of the fish head soup store.

Then I found out about Pandora. They play music that is like the music you already enjoy, but that you've probably never heard of.

Before signing up for a free account, you can run through a demonstration of how the site works. Basically, you put a song or group that you like into the search engine, and Pandora plays music that has the same attributes as what you like. If the artist you enter uses a lot of acoustic guitar with strong male vocals, then you'll get more of that type of music.

This is then saved as a "station". As songs play. you can tell Pandora if you like or dislike them, and it will adjust the music that's about to play accordingly.

The best part is that although they have a whole lot of bands that are popular, they also have many bands that I had never heard of.

If you really like them, you can even buy a streaming music device that will let you listen to Pandora in your home.
