My unqualified host name (“system host name”) unknown;

Most of my back end servers are running CentOS. I have been getting the same error message on all of them.

"My unqualified host name (“system host name”) unknown;"

The only Problem with this is at boot. The system takes a little bit to start Sendmail service. As I am not using them for Mail servers I haven't had any issues. Other then seeing the error in my logs.

Die Gremlins!

posted yesterday that I realized that the Drupal had been down for a good long time, not that there was a big outcry or anything :-)

The truth is, I don't have any earthly idea how long it's been down, but it's been awhile. Not sure how the permissions were changed on my index.php, but they changed.

Then, I noticed that when I viewed an individual post, I had a whole slew of errors on the top of the page, including

Forcing Windows 7 Adoption

image I downloaded the Windows 7 beta pretty shortly after it was available. I quickly took advantage of some free disk space on my drive, shrunk my partition, and set up dual boot with Windows Vista.

Congratulations to CS Tech Cast!

image

It's no secret that Art and I are big fans of CS Techcast, heck, we've played their promo twice, and we've even been guests on their show. Well, it would appear that we're not alone. It seems that CIO Insight is a big fan too.

How to Change your modem's init strings in Windows Vista

imageI'm going to get a little old school on you here today. Remember those crazy modem init strings? I bet you thought we were all done with those. Well, with Smart Phones that act like blue tooth modems, everything old is new again.

The problem that I ran into was that I had to specify my access point in the init string. Looking at the properties of the modem, the box where you enter the init string isn't available. Well, here's how you change it.

Step 1:

Burbank businessman hits eject button on VHS format.

If you’re still an owner of a VCR (Remember those?), you may soon find it difficult to find anything new to play on it.

The last movie to be released on VHS was “A History of Violence” back in 2006, but you’ve been able to find older movies on the ancient format in places like dollar stores and your local grocery for a few dollars.

No more Abit mobos after this year.

Looks like Abit's parent company, Universal Scientific Industrial (I love that name!), is shutting Abit's doors on December 31 due to a reorginazation of the company. At first they were just going to get out of the mobo business and focus on consumer electronics, but the decision was made to give the company the axe altogether.
